Julien Carette has been Chief Executive Officer of Havas Paris since May 9, 2017 and has chaired Havas Events since 2011.

Graduating from the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Bordeaux and the University of Uppsala in Sweden, 40-year-old Julien Carette has spent his entire career with Havas Group. He joined Havas in 1998 to build Euro RSCG’s regional office network before moving to European top management as Business Development Manager.

Five years later, Julien joined Euro RSCG C&O (later renamed ‘Havas Paris’), where he took charge of business development. He oversaw the firm’s success in winning big tenders including the EDF, La Poste, Monoprix, Capgemini and Carrefour accounts and under his guidance the firm enjoyed buoyant growth. Julien next took over responsibility for the firm’s Talent department (which focuses on employer branding), staff communications and change management.

In 2010, Julien was appointed Havas Paris Deputy CEO followed by CEO in 2012 at a time when he was still managing the EDF, Monoprix, La Poste, AG2R La Mondiale, French Defense Ministry, KPMG, French Air Force and ESSEC (top French business school) accounts.

Meanwhile in 2011, Julien was appointed chairman of Havas Events, the Group’s events marketing firm in France, tasked with making events a strategic marketing tool for Village Havas’s key accounts. In just five years, he made Havas Events market leader, the top French firm in the Limelight/BVA ranking and the Agence Evénementielle de l’Année 2016 (events firm of the year 2016). Under his guidance, Havas Events doubled in size – EBITDA soaring from €7 million to €15 million - and is now home to some one hundred staff. Working alongside other Village Havas firms, Havas Events holds around 250 events per year in France and abroad, including Show Hello Orange, the fifth edition of which took place in April 2017; Challenge Bibendum Michelin attracting 6,000 people and lasting five days in Chengdu, China; the 2015 Sodexo Quality of Life Services conference in New-York; Les Journées Particulières for LVMH, the third edition of which took place in 2016, and lately the relaunch of the Alpine brand.

Julien also created new corporate CSR events including Havas Events Luxe (for Krug, Alpine and Louis Vuitton Foundation) and consumer entertainment and Click&Collect events.

Julien is also founder and deputy chairman of the French trade association L’ÉVÉNEMENT, which comprises 75 leading French events firms, and sits on the commission which prepared the communications contract for the French Services Council under the French Economy and Finance Ministry.

Julien is communications and marketing professor and lecturer for ESSEC (top French business school).
